CONCERTS POSTPONED
NOVEMBER 4 , 2009 - STRYPER has postponed their concerts scheduled for tonight Wednesday November 4 (Dallas – House of Blues) and Thursday November 5 (Houston – House of Blues) due to artist illness.

The rescheduled dates are December 21 (Houston – House of Blues) and December 22 (Dallas – House of Blues).

Singer / Songwriter Michael Sweet explains, “I’ve come down with a horrible case of the flu and now it seems to be spreading throughout the bus.

I see reports all over the nation where bad cases of the flu are hitting America and had hoped we could make it through this entire tour without it affecting us, but unfortunately it has. It’s really bad and I wish our friends and fans all the best with their health during this season. I have seen a doctor and am on medication and anticipate a speedy recovery. My sincerest apologies to all the fans for this inconvenience but I look forward to seeing you all in December when we return. Just for these two shows we will be putting together a special Christmas segment of the show. It’ll be great to spend the holidays with our friends and fans in Dallas and Houston.”

The rescheduled shows will include a special Christmas segment and will include the fan favorite ‘Reason for the Season’, never before performed live at a Stryper show.

Tickets purchased for each concert will be honored on the rescheduled dates.

Fan meet and greet purchases will also be honored on the rescheduled dates.

I know someone who planned his day around this. His wife and friend took a vacation day from work. His friend was visiting from Finland and was hoping to see Stryper before returning. Needless to say a lot of disappointments.

BUT, I would rather not see a poor performing (ailing) band. Sometimes it's best if "the show must (not) go on".

Prayers for MS, Stryper, and all involved. May their health return soon.

My friend also said that Stryper performed 'Reason for the Season' at McCaskey High School Lancaster, PA’ 11/16/85.

He also said "Funny, this exact thing happened in Dallas in 89 for the IGWT tour. I showed up and the concert was postponed. I had to return at a later time with my ticket for the rescheduled show".

Will they be doing a cover of One Bad Pig's 'Swine Flew', perhaps?

Seriously, though, I'm sure no musician likes cancelling gigs, and would only do so if absolutely necessary.

Yeah, I know some friends in Houston who won't be able to make the re-scheduled show due to conflicts. I'll of course be at the Dallas show since these tickets were actually an early Christmas present

I have been there, done that. As a drummer I was able to muscle through it but did not have to sing. There is no way I could front a band with the flu. Hope he is better by Vegas next Friday. Oz's wife has it bad as well.

There are pro athletes that will do the same out of love for the game. I think mostly about basketball but there are probably other sports.

There are top notch racers that feel puny all weekend but still go on to win with a cold or flu.

But I agree, if being a leader (frontman) then it is different. We all can force ourselves to carry on if not having to be a spokesperson. Something about verbalizing :?:
