PostSubject: Your Favorite Sub-Genre Poll   Fri Feb 19, 2010 12:15 am

Greetings Friends!

I am conducting this survey in order to make adjustments to The Master's Metal's current format.

I enjoy listening to and playing almost every sub-genre of Metal. For those reading between the lines, this is my way of reaching out and getting a feel for what you guys and gals want to hear. This obviously will also be applicable to the station as a whole, not only my broadcast.

I have broke down sub-genres into four simple groupings; Extreme, Modern, Classic and Hard Rock. I am aware that I did not mention each and every sub-genre. I did this because I wanted to give just enough definition to be understood. For instance, Extreme would be your "cookie monster vocals" type artists, while Modern would be your "clean vocals" type artists.

I am additionally aware that you may (as do I) favor more than one grouping equally. In such cases, simply choose the one you tend to listen to most.

Feel free to post responses along with your votes!

Here are the definitions:

EXTREME METAL:
Death, Doom, Black, Metalcore, Hardcore

MODERN METAL:
Power, Progressive, Melodic, Neo-Classical

CLASSIC METAL:
Classic Variety (1980's and 1990's)

HARD ROCK:
Hard Rock, Southern, Nu Metal, Post Metal, Grunge

Voted for Extreme metal. I'm pretty sure that's what most people from here listen.

This.

My favorite styles of metal are black metal, death, doom, thrash and classic metal like Sabbath, Maiden and Angel Witch. I also love nu metal. I used to be a huge fan of metalcore/deathcore, but lately those genres have lost a bit of their charm to me.

What would be considered "modern metal"?

At any rate, I chose extreme.

Garrison defines it as "Power, Progressive, Melodic, Neo-Classical", which I (more or less) agree with.

Yes, Modern Metal to me would be the clean vocals sub-genres of metal of the past decade. Sure, this is debatable. However, for the purpose of this survey, this is the term I prefer to use. Fair enough? Wink

Thank you for participating, guys! I really appreciate this!

So...why aren't you guys tuning in to my Monday/Tuesday "Extreme Metal Edition" shows?! Hahaha! Maybe I should put it up for PODcast also (for those of you who find my time slot a little on the late side)?

I would really like it if you did this. I don't always have time to tune in, so its nice to have a show in podcast form.

Alright, I am going to leave this up for another week for the stragglers.

I appreciate EACH of you for participating in this poll! We will be taking these results into consideration and continue developing our radio station into THE best choice for Christian Metalheads around the world!

On a more personal note, I am going to begin making my broadcasts available for download to your mobile devices in the very near future.
