Probably Judea around 1986 or Freed. I knew a guy who sold equipment to them and said he thought they were looking for a bass player. So I went to check them out. I had no idea they were a Christian rock / metal band! LOL

It would be Grave Forsaken back in early 06 I think. Shortly after that it would have been Scourged Flesh (then called Testified) and then Mortification.

Soooo, the Winans or Twila Paris don't count?

I was curious about the specific date, and found something kinda cool... in a nostalgic way. I guess there was a promo website for the first show I went to and it's still up.

I think I walked in on the last bit of HTD's opener, Blue 42. I loved Haste the Day, Dead Poetic did not get the crowd excited at all, Beloved was cool, Spencer was a n00b, and Beloved's drummer was doing vocals for NJ. My pops drove me and I had to leave after Underoath so I missed NJ. And on my way out, my pops grilled Aaron about whether or not they had a home church and if they went to church while on tour.

Stryper, in 1989. Thebarton Town Hall, South Australia, on a Sunday afternoon. I had been getting into metal for the last year or two, but didn't like the lyrics of Motley Crue, so discovering Stryper was a major plus for me, and I was extremely excited about seeing an international metal band. Disciple, a local hard rock band opened... and I just remember it being really loud, and the drummer being a beast behind the kit. Then Stryper came on, the place went berserk and it just got louder! When it came to throwing out the bibles, the guy next to me caught it and gave it to me. They were incredible -I went to church after, and couldn't hear a word the priest was saying .

Later that year, a mate of mine was talking bout this new band he'd heard on radio called Lightforce... thus my journey started!

And in a few weeks, I'm off to Melbourne to see Stryper again....

I think it was Flevo Festival 1995 (in Eindhoven). I went there mostly to see Bride.
They just released their album Drop which was a bit disappointing, but still it was quite good. Quick & the Dead was playing as well that night.

Well, if we're talking KNOWN bands, then it would probably be Grave Forsaken in Dec 07, and a badly organised event that only about 10 people were at.

I spent most of the night talking to Vaughan and co, then helped pack down once it was finished (2 years later, I was in the band... yikes).

Before that though, I went to a couple of concerts called Saltbush which were held in a country town about 2 hours or so outside of Perth.

But nobody well known outside of maybe the Australian scene would know who any of the acts there....Maybe.

1978 the one and only Larry Norman!! not knowing that my b/f was in the warm up band as a 19 yr old playin his first gig! small world! concert was in a very old movie theatre in Pitman,nj.recently went under renovations and Steve played their last year and peformed "Wish We All been Ready"! was cool for him to remember all that?

Even though I was going to concerts in 1978, the first Christian concert would not be until about a decade later. The first one that I remember (there might have been others) was Darrell Mansfield Band around 1986 or 1987 on his 'Revelation' tour. I don't remember how I found out about it but went on a whim with my fiance. I don't think it was widely advertised. It was at a park in the mid-city of Perris, Cal. Sadly, there was only about 50 people there. Gave me plenty of time to introduce myself. Actually Darrell came out to the (mini) crowd and shook hands while singing. He sung his heart and soul out and gave a little testimony. The band sounded pretty good. It wasn't until much later that I learned that he is a local, he lives not to far away.

Stryper in Houston in 1983. It was at some old theater down there. Don't really remember where. I know one of the people in the row I was standing in got one of Robert's drum sticks after the show.

HOWEVER...I recall seeing Larry Norman playing an acoustic set at Borean Book Store in Bakersfield, CA prior to that. It wasn't a "concert", just some promotional kind of gig in the parking lot with maybe 30-40 people enjoying the grandfather of Christian Rock.

The first christian Rock-Concert I remember (and always will!) was 1989 in Germany (around Stuttgart). It was White Heart on their "Freedom"-Tour: it was breathtaking and spectacular! Absolutely great musicianship and message!

My first was a music festival, and though Whitecross was on first, I only caught the last 2 songs of their set because we showed up late. I really went to see Guardian, and they were AWESOMe.

First metal gig I went to was Mortification, Callous and another band I think they were called Dispersia (??), would have been around 1996/7

First christian rock (if you would consider it that) would have been Don Fransisco in the mid-late 80's

Disciple was my first and last christian rock concert around 2005/2006 with Silas and Nebo MT. It was one of Silas' last shows, they werent very big, but i got a 2 demos and they were pretty good, I got the Nebo MT demo/cd as well. Would've met Disciple but someone got hurt at the concert from moshing or something...lol

Slechtvalk in 2005 was the first christian metal band I saw in concert (well, it's not really "christian", yeah, but we get the point :p )
