| They've paid their dues and have earned quite a bit of respect. Maybe Blood Drift will be like that in a few years. _________________ | NapalmDave wrote: | if you have a comb over or wear your sisters pants then walk on, no use for you here

I think they were a bit before your time. I was there. There was nothing like them, among Christian bands. So, we loved them like there was noone else, because there was noone else!
Peace,

| Rumor has it that Stryper is working on a covers album. They plan to cover many popular songs from bands that influenced them from back in the day. So far the UNnamed album is shaping up as:
Judas Priest – Breaking The Law Iron Maiden – The Trooper Scorpions – Blackout Ozzy – Over The Mountain Sweet – Set Me Free
They played some of these songs on their current tour.

| I've never been a huge fan or anything, but they do make some good music. It was funny... they were on a Puerto Rican station... It's a shame they don't show the second half though... Michael (I think) starts dancing to some Reggaeton music!! XD XD XD Trust me, I saw it live with the DirectTV Mas Package! |

| I am standing in the same shoes as Gothdad. At the time there truly weren't any other "Metal" bands of their caliber back in those first couple of years (1984-1986) so openly ministering for Jesus Christ. I was also there and still have the original LPs, complete with autographs.
They were also my first "Christian" oriented concert I attended (during their promotion of To Hell With The Devil)...I can still remember the "Christians" outside the concert doors picketing that Stryper was a tool of Satan, leading people to Hell like the Pied Piper. _________________ ****************************************************************** "The Master's Metal" Every Tuesday and Saturday on Untombed Radio 5:00 - 7:00 PM Pacific (8:00 - 10:00 PM Eastern)

| I think y'all have forgotten about Bloodgood and Barren Cross. Albeit, Styper had a one year head start getting their first release out. A year later was Deliverance, Whitecross, Bride, and a whole lot more great bands of the past that are still jamming to this day.
BTW, my wife was there at the beginning too. She was at Stryper's first show at Calvary Chapel. Seems these boys have gone full circle from playing secular covers in the Orange/L.A. County scene to a secular covers album next. |

| stryper was all i knew on the east coast.deliverance, bloodgood and barrencross didnt grab my attention until like 1992 or so! so,i was into priest, maiden, sabbath with dio for quite a bit.the following is my post on stypers blog and scott waters from ultimatum's also..as a band;we applaud stryper and support our brothers especially since we did the same w/ "Lex Metalis" as a promotional manager to Ultimatum, michael,i know exactly where you are comming from! we heard the samething bout our latest release "Lex Metalis"! the songs that were chosen were ones the band grew up listening to.we hadnt changed our faith or turned our back on it..just a fun cd..lettin the hair down and headbanging to some old but, goodies! you have my support and that of Ultimatum.many blessings and gods best with the new cd! god knows your hearts and motivation and i know you will honor him and he can use this music too.you have our prayers and encouragement.all his best always, sherri ross promotional manager to Ultimatum my post on michael's blog...below is scott's comment Ultimatum just released an album of covers similar to this last year called Lex Metalis. We've taken some heat over it too, but frankly, I don't care. We are not out to please every Tom, Dick and Harry with an opinion. We have not turned our back on our faith. It's about pleasing our Heavenly Father. I am a dad. I have a teenage son who plays in bands. I know when I see my son behind his drum kit playing his heart out, I beam with pride. The style of music my son plays is not exactly my thing, but it matters not. I still watch him perform and smile from ear to ear. I'd like to think that my Heavenly Father beams with pride at our endeavors as well. There is nothing wrong with playing some music that you enjoy. Don't let the naysayers get you down. great minds think alike,eh scott??? _________________ in His service,by serving others thru their metal music ministries.www.myspace.com/postitivepromotions

| I knew about those other bands, but that came after 1986. As a matter of fact, it wasn't until 1988 that I picked up anything from Bloodgood, Barren Cross, Deliverance, Whitecross and some of those other awesome bands.
As far as the "Christians" covering "mainstream" songs...I am not concerned with it, so long as it is in line with Christian morals/ethics. _________________ ****************************************************************** "The Master's Metal" Every Tuesday and Saturday on Untombed Radio 5:00 - 7:00 PM Pacific (8:00 - 10:00 PM Eastern)
