Yup, it's true!!! We're going to give it a shot anyway.

Can't say I've much experience with this, but I've got plenty of time on my hands so I can spend a while working things out as I go.

Looking to help out local bands with demos, EPs and such. Just starting off small and building up from there.

What do you plan on doing?

How are you going to "help" bands?

While I'm not able to offer much financially, I can offer a fair bit of my own time. From the bands I've talked with already, it appears that promotion and securing gigs is very difficult for new bands. Although everything is still in the very early ideas stage, PR and Event Organisation are looking quite likely. Got a few other ideas as well, such as working on Split EPs rather than individual releases. That way, the release will have twice the material, twice the potential fan base, and the bands would be able to promote each other as well as themselves... all for around the same price as getting one release printed up.

Any other suggestions, ideas, feedback etc would be appreciated, especially from those with experience, both with labels and bands.

That sounds like a good starting plan, Rowlie. Helping bands get gigs is definitely a win-win.

That would be pretty cool. I usually like to have real cds for that sort of thing, but it would be a good way to promote bands.

When I was in Oz, we had a good chat about a compilation and the ways of making one without making it too costly for you.

(let bands that join pay a certain amount of $, and when they do, you can send them a certain amount of cd's they can sell for own profit)
