Stargazer, thank you for bringing this to our attention. You know your stuff Cool
Bump. I agree with removing bands who curse from the vault. At least in they're songs. "Let no foul word leave your mouth." I think F-bombs and the like fall into that catergory.

Christian =/= perfect

They have Christian members and some Christian lyrics, so I think they belong in the vault.

Hrmm... seems that in my ignorance, I clicked on just one of the tracks thinking it was indicative of the whole album (big mistake there). I'm pretty mixed on this now. It's one thing if a band member decides to hurl-out an F-bomb or two at a live show - I just won't attend a live concert. But to throw em out in the lyrics themselves - now I'm not even buyin the album, so...... yeah Razz

^^ Differences between American legalistic Christianity and European Christianity. Granted, I know where they're coming from & fell into that camp for a while. I think bands w/ f-bombs probably shouldn't be in the vault, because I can't think of a reason that particular word could be considered wholesome or uplifting speech. Most of the other "cuss words" are a different story, but the f-bomb is one word that really doesn't have much business being uttered by Christians on a piece of art that someone will be able to look back at 30 years from now & see. We use it in our daily lives because we are still tied to this flesh & this world, but I think a line in the sand has to be drawn. If you use it in your daily life I'm not going to say you're not a Christian, I'd just encourage you to find alternative means of expression (as I'm trying to do). But in a recorded work or piece of art? Surely we can find ways to express ourselves in a way that won't immediately make it seem as if we are "of the world". That's my $.02

i agree with fro. but i think that cuss words in general should be avoided. however that is just the way i was raised. now i do let one fly sometimes and i don't think people who let it fly are bad, but i don't think that a christian band should let it fly. there are several bands in the vault that should not be there that are either not christian and some of those do have christian members. but i don't think just having christian members make it a christian band and the vault is for christian bands. not secular bands that are ok or have christian members.

^^ Keep in mind, though, that it's "Christian & positive" based on the original intention of the vault & description. With that in mind, that gives a bit more latitude as to the content. I still contest the f-bomb inclusion, though. I think that's the line that needs to be drawn.

Yeah I agree. Im not being legalistic or anything I just dont think that a supposedly christian band should have foul language in a track that will forever be availabe. Well maybe not forever but u get the point. Christians are supposed to lead this world into the New Jeruseleum thru Christ, not stoop to the level of this world. And I know that sounded..hypocritical. In regards to lyrics thats my thoughts. Now goin out to talk to porn stars, prostitutes et al. is a different story. I think we should do that. I just dont feel that its totally kosher to have cuss words in the vault. Hate on me if u want just my Opinion.

So if the f-bomb is going to be frowned upon, and results in removal from the vault, why is 66 horsepower still there?

^^ Good question. Good band, musically, but I was never 100% down w/ their inclusion either. Once again, it's a "line in the sand". I don't think it's completely arbitrary, either.

i will say however that after reading 16 horspower's lyrics that i only saw one f-bomb early in thier carreer and the rest of the lyrics are blatantly christian. as you recall palehorse had that situation early in their carreer when they were young christians and later rerecorded the song.

Not true, I know enough American christians who use it and European Christians who don't.
This isn't even an ''in general'' thing anymore. Those borders have been long crossed.

That's not why I use it. I use it because I am convinced it's ok to use it.

To show we're not ''of the world'' ?
I just don't get it.

''you're a christian???? but you just used the f-bomb Surprised ???"

Nah. Won't happen.

that's because they don't want to delete bands that have had votes...
and that's the reason why Andy Hunter is in there as well

If Miss May I had to go just because they have a naughty word in their lyrics, then Celldweller should be removed, as well.
