Canada has a higher public satisfaction rating with theirmedical system than we have ever had in the USA.

And...

1. Obama Care.. is not Socialized healthcare. He even fought against a weak public option.. let alone has never even talked about setting up a Singlepayer system or any sort of Government Run system to replace the Privately run one tha we currently have for most Americans.

Trust me, as a Socialist.. I know what I am saying here. I wish we did have SOciaized healthcare.. but we don't.

2. Obama Care is Insurances Company reform. It is a change on Regulation of Health Insurance Companies and a reform on existing Selective Socialized Health care.. like Medicare, State Medicaid... there are no new Socialized healthcare systems being set up under " Obama Care".

3. Canad has a Singlepater system. the onyl thing in the US that is singlepayer is the what the Military recieves with the Tri-Care Military Medical system.

Did you even watch the video, Ash? Or are you going to tell to me that even though Obama said that by the end of his presidency he will have signed a bill for universal healthcare, that somehow he DIDN'T say it.

Because you can clearly see that even though everyone gets healthcare, its not exactly ideal.

The 40,000 plus Americans that currentl;y die every year without health coverage?

That is what is not ideal.


And yes.. I can tell you from having alot of experience in American Emregency Rooms.. that we have just as long waits if you are not in a life or death condition. When I was without insurance.. I was literally dying and could nto get the tests I needed- Endoscopy- to be able to get diagnosed. and almost died from a COnidtion known as IBD.. buit some specialist who had recently come form INdia.. agreed to do the test on me for no charge... and was finally able to get the meds that kept me alive... all after 9 months of undiagnosed needles suffering. And that's jsut one of my experiences.

As far as Socialized systems.. I prefer the German model...or the Japanese. Eveyr country that has Universal Coverage has a unique and different system. There is no one "Socialized healthcare" system. And if the US ever gets Socialized Healthcare that actualy covers evrybody..it will also be unique.

I don't feel better, or feel worse. I just want you to address the points of the video, and I will extend the same courtesy to you, providing you don't twist my arguments or bombard me with ad hominems.

Anyways, a few things.

1. Why didn't you have insurance?

2. That video you posted concerning the German system...what do you make of the part where it mentions that German citizens pay into the system through private insurers?

I'm all for private insurers... provided they are regulated enough by government and Not for Profit. Because I don't believe matters of life and death shoudl be decided by how much the stockholders have made that year.

The German Sickness Funds are that. Privately run health providers who are regulated as Utilities. They are also payed based on patient Outcomes.. rather than entirely for Services ( Like we do in the US.)

The Netherlands.. has a Completely Privatized healthcare system.. but they are regulated like public utilites are.. and as such.. all people are providced with healthcare ( universal coverage).

Japan also does the same thing.. and many other countries.

Just we like decide along time ago that Everyone shoudl have access to electircity.. and made that possible by creating Privately Run public utuilies.. these countries have taken the same logic and successful idea and used it for healthcare.

Of course, Republicans are Vehemtly opposd to a Not For Profit Private Systems. And the idea of regulating Health Insurance providers liek Utilites. ( they call it Government run Healthcare ). I mean. they are funded by these For Profit COmpanies and are guaranteed loobying jobs with them after their Government "service" has expired.. so of course they are opposed to it.

In your words, explain to me what your understanding of profit is.

Profit and For Profit are two different matters.

Profit is income. In a manner of speaking.

For Profit means you work for one reason.. to make money. But in a Capitalist Wall Street system like, it typically refers to a Private Company with Share holders.. and that companies Most Important obligation is to make money for the shareholders.



I, on the other hand, believe a Health Insurance Providers most important obligation should be to provide Healthcare.

Not for Profit Private companies do not run on Shareholder Obligations.. but rather on serving a certain need and maing a profit that is not relegated to how the shareholders are feeling about that years financial portfolio.

UItilites can be For Profit or not for Profit but are alwasy regulated and mandated by Government.
